France on Foot
Walking Meditation Along the Camino Frances
Walk the French Camino From Le Puy-en-Velay to Conques Haute Loire, France April 10-22, 2022 This group is limited to 12 pilgrims. |
After years of walking the Basque Camino, the Red Monkey guides are following the call to offer a pilgrimage starting farther along the traditional route. We will be hiking from the sacred Black Madonna city of Le Puy-en-Velay to revered pilgrimage village of Conques, France.
Be nourished by the French countryside and return to your own rhythms along this unforgettable section of the Camino, considered by many to be the most beautiful section of all the Caminos. Pilgrims will be pampered by the warmth of the stunning scenery during the day and in our incredible accommodations at night.
You’ll meet your group in Lyon, France’s second largest city. After a short van ride we will reach our starting point of Le Puy, an incredible medieval village known for its towering volcanic spires that are incorporated into the architecture. After sleeping in a boutique hotel made from volcanic rocks, we will visit the Cathedral for a special pilgrims' mass and begin our walk. Our next 11 days will wind through volcanic mountain valleys, medieval villages, and charming pastures with our supportive group.
Please note: With slightly longer distances, no rest day, this is considered the more "advanced" pilgrimage trip.
Feel free to talk with us to figure out which is the best trip for you!
