Where are we staying? I've heard the Camino has terrible dorms…

No dorms here. Our Camino de Santiago accommodations are hidden gems of family-run bed and breakfasts, working farms, and beautifully restored 12th-century farmhouses tucked throughout the countryside. Along the Camino de Santiago, you’ll experience unparalleled hospitality rooted in a 1,000-year tradition of welcoming pilgrims.

Is it really the best food in the world?

YES. Get ready for a culinary adventure! You’ll indulge in home-style French and Basque cuisine, as well as the best of Spanish tapas, seafood, cheeses, and pastries. Of course, there will also be artisan chocolate and wine.

Dinners are mostly three courses of exquisite food, from farms and stores in the local region. We use organic and sustainable ingredients as much as possible. Vegetarian options are also available.
Each night’s Camino de Santiago accommodation is lovingly chosen for its charm, beauty, and the heartfelt care of its hosts. Every stay feels like unwrapping a present, offering its own unique atmosphere and nourishing delights.

We stay in handpicked 4-star hotels in Bilbao and Pamplona, along with family-run lodgings that have been welcoming Camino pilgrims for generations. Their hospitality will open your heart and redefine what connecting with locals during travel truly feels like.

This isn’t your typical Camino de Santiago lodging — it’s a meaningful part of your journey.

How many miles a day will I be walking?

You’ll walk 10–15 miles a day with plenty of breaks to soak in the scenery. Each pilgrim walks at their own pace, there’s no pressure to “keep up” with anyone else on the Camino de Santiago trail. It sounds like a lot, but the pace is gentle and totally doable, even for first-timers.

Walking through the countryside is much less strenuous than hiking rugged terrain. Most days, you’ll find charming Camino cafes with excellent coffee and treats to keep your energy up. And if needed, daily taxi support is available to help you skip a section and rest.

How fit do I need to be for this trip?

Pilgrims vary in ages from preteens to elders in their 80s. Walking the Camino is suitable for everyone in reasonably good shape. It helps to love up your body with exercise before you arrive, but everyone is sore the first few days.

Blisters, sore muscles and other symptoms of long walks are common. After your body adjusts, the problem becomes never wanting to stop walking!

What is Walking Meditation anyway?

Walking quietly in nature naturally brings out a meditative quality in pilgrims. On our guided Camino de Santiago tours, we offer simple meditation instructions, but we let Nature do most of the teaching. You’ll walk silently at your own pace for long stretches, creating space for reflection and insight.

As a group, we laugh a lot during meals and breaks. Like any good retreat, your experience may include both serious moments and lighthearted ones. Red Monkey guides meet you wherever you’re at, and the group naturally bonds to support one another.
A day on the Camino de Santiago without some kind of insight is rare — this ancient trail has a serendipitous way of offering the exact guidance pilgrims need.
What can I expect to feel during this trip?

Many pilgrims report that walking the Camino de Santiago helps them feel empowered — both in their bodies and their lives. Walking is a gift, creating space to process emotions, integrate life experiences, and envision a new future for yourself.
The Camino de Santiago journey offers time and structure for contemplation, insights, and dreaming about what’s next.
If you’re ready to clear out the cobwebs and breathe fresh energy into your life, walking the Camino with Red Monkey Travel is a brilliant place to start.

How big will my group be?

To ensure a personalized experience, we limit group sizes, typically ranging from 12 to 16 pilgrims. While group sizes may vary, they are always kept small to maintain an intimate atmosphere.
