Walking with Grief on the Camino de Santiago
Special Retreat for Those Living with Loss and Transitions
A walking journey through the Basque Country of Southern France and Northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago Sunday, October 19 - Thursday 30, 2025 This group is limited to 10 pilgrims. |
Overview
The Camino de Santiago has been walked for centuries to heal from the life's sharp turns.
The sacrifice of walking is what transforms our grief into meaning. This transformative journey waits for those who are called. As we walk together for 12 days, we will support each other as only fellow greivers can.
The Camion offers a path to find the other side of grief, to touch joy and gratitude for life again, and an opportunity to find new powers and gifts that come from honoring our losses. You will find strength and companionship from the Camino.
Your guides along this journey were each drawn to the Camino while crossing through their own dark nights of the soul. Their trips were so transformative that they were called to share the Camino with others.
Because your guides have firsthand experience of the ways that life can shake you down to your soul, they make your outer journey as nourishing as possible. You will be set up with wondrous accommodations, generous hosts, delectable food, and a supportive tribe of peers.

Our Method
Your guides are available to walk beside you and hold a supportive container, never pushing you, but supporting the next layer that is coming up. Our emphasis is on peer-support, by sharing your stories, as and when you choose, you both support and receive deep solace from the other pilgrims.
This experience is profoundly personal. So while your leaders don't act in the role of therapists, they do act as "midwives of grief"-- as one past participant described it. They will encourage you to call upon your strength, aided by the mysterious power of walking the Camino itself. The pace, as you traverse your inner landscape, is all your own.
Grief is a transformational process. Are you ready to give yourself the time to experience it?

TESTIMONIALS

Hear From Our Camino Pilgrims
"In 2015 I walked the Camino with the intention to literally walk for my partner and to walk with my grief in order to transform it. The result was a palpable renewal and a sense of both inner and outer strength. I came away with so much joy and appreciation for life and was so grateful for the process, that I am now hooked on walking the Camino."

"Walking the Camino with Rachael was a beautiful, fun, profound and life-changing experience. The pilgrimage trail tested me on every level: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. But it changed my life. You WILL gain a sense of deep appreciation and deeper love for yourself, which will bring more ease, joy, and self-esteem to your life. You just need to show up, walk, and be ready for a life-changing experience."
