Travel through Eastern Ireland on this Irish Walking Pilgrimage
Self Guided/Guided Trips 10 Day Walks |
|
|
This iconic 10 day walking Pilgrimage was inaugurated in a moment of divine inspiration by a committee of volunteers who wanted to restart this ancient walking path. We are partnering with the Brigid's Way committee for this pilgrimage.
Those who honour Brigid, as a pre-Celtic Goddess or Christian Saint, come to walk in her footsteps as a way to find peace, connect with our ancestors and commune with the sacred land's of Ireland. By following Brigid’s footsteps and those of our ancestors, walking as a pilgrim will reconnect you with the sacredness of the earth and the majesty of the sky. |

Brigid’s Way Irish Pilgrimage
This Irish Pilgrimage passes through beautiful landscapes and picturesque villages of county Louth.
Along the route, lie the sacred sites of Brigid's Holy Well, Knockbridge Standing Stone also known as the ‘Cuchulainn Stone’, the Hill of Tara, Brideswell Kilcock, Brigid’s monastery in Kildare.
This alignment of sacred sites reflects the Cygnus (Swan) constellation which was prominent in the skies at the time of St Brigid’s birth in the 5th Century AD. It may have formed an ancient ‘sightline’, pointing out the place on the northern horizon where the cross-shaped swan constellation, Cygnus was rising in ancient times.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Where do We Walk?
We walk outside of Dublin Ireland. In lush farmland and through picturesque villages, past ancient archaeological sites and Irish history of Saint Brigid.
How many miles a day will I be walking?
You'll walk 5 - 14 miles (11 - 22 Kms) a day with many breaks to enjoy our surroundings. Each pilgrim can walk in accordance with their own body’s rhythm, so there's no pressure to "keep up" with anyone else on the trail. It sounds long, but is actually very doable even at a slow pace. Walking in the country is much less arduous than hiking. Most days there are small cafes with fabulous tea and beer to keep you feeling great. If needed, there is also a taxi service available.
How fit do I need to be for this trip?
Pilgrims vary in ages from preteens to elders in their 80s. Walking the Brigid's Way is suitable for everyone in reasonably good shape.

“Brigid’s Way is a nine-day Camino between two sites sacred to the ancient Celtic goddess and Celtic Christian Saint Brigid. Starting in Faughart, Co Louth. . . it winds its way through Newgrange, Hill of Tara and Slane before reaching Brigid’s monastic city of Kildare.” - Manchán Magan, Times of Ireland |
"Brigids Way has inspired me to reach far beyond what I thought to be true of my body’s capabilities and connected me more fully to Brigid’s profound and awesome inspiration.” - Gemma Mac, Ireland |
